Accessibility statement

Downs for All is about access. The website has to be too. This page says what we have done, what we have not finished, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.

Draft for review. Last updated 15 September 2026.

What we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA. In plain terms, that means:

  • large text (19 pixels and up) and high contrast everywhere
  • you can zoom to 400% and everything still works
  • everything works with a keyboard alone, and you can always see where you are
  • a "skip to main content" link at the top of every page
  • buttons and links big enough to press on a phone
  • plain English, short sentences, one idea at a time
  • the video at the top can be paused, has no sound, and does not play at all if your device is set to reduce motion
  • the form works without JavaScript, and everything on the form can also be done by phone

How we test

Every page is checked with automated tools (axe-core) against WCAG 2.2 AA, and tried with a keyboard, a screen reader and a phone. We would rather hear from real people, though. If you use assistive technology and want to help us test, please get in touch.

Known problems

  • The hero video is a placeholder. When the real footage arrives we will check its contrast under the text again.
  • Supporter logos are supplied by supporters and may not all have good contrast against a white background.
  • Our privacy notice and this statement are drafts and may change.

Easy read and other formats

We are planning an easy-read version of the main page. If you would like this information in another format, such as large print or over the phone, call us and we will sort it out.

Tell us if something is wrong

If you cannot use part of this website, or you find something that does not work with your equipment, please tell us. Call 01273 111 900 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) or email admin@spiralsussex.org. We will fix what we can and tell you what we have done.
